Digital Photography

New to the site is digital photography.  Kathleen has been interested in photography since her first camera at age six.  She has a unique and perhaps a  quirky view of everyday objects, scenes, landscapes that are right in plain sight - and to her there is an exquisite beauty in the magic of the mundane.

First exhibiting her photograpy in juried exhibitions and galleries in 2000, Kathleen has received a number of awards for her work and she is pleased to introduce them to this site.  The philosophy of the photography is to allow the camera to be the tool, to facilitate this more physical and outgoing art form in making her art.

Also interested in a journalistic style of portrait photography, Kathleen documents special events, weddings, reunions, and simple candid and personal family portraits, and would be pleased and honored to help you document and records those special life moments.  Please use the contact form for inquiries.

Photography sessions are available for booking.  Please use the 'Contact Us' link  and we'll be happy to provide information for you.

Landscape, Still Life and Abstract Painting

The paintings are simple yet complex with layers of paint muted by mixing many colors together and scrubbed, manipulated,  to achieve a layered, atmospheric look.  With a great love and respect of the masters and art from antiquity her work aims to achieve a timeless and ageless quality to her paintings. "My landscapes are not based on any real landscape but are based on how we may read a landscape from a distance off - the barest hint, a sense of landscape." All my works stem from the landscape, the still lifes are like landscapes - with portraits within them, portraits of objects that have a life of their own - and their relationships with each other.  The abstracts are conceived as we see the past with its many layers.  It's important to respect time and age and their effect on us.

The paintings are painted with acrylic paint and mixed media with gouache, charcoal and pastels added, in the abstracts papers, graphite and additional items collaged in the image . The paintings are on paper, wood, panel and canvas - and all are small works.  The works are personal and intimate - begging the viewer to come closer to see.  They speak quietly and with great emotion.  The current works are all small works although the artist works in all size media.
